Hello! The school year is around the corner! I hope your families have had a wonderful summer! Just a reminder, Christian Home Educators Fellowship would like to invite everyone to the annual kick-off family picnic. All homeschooling families are invited, and those who are considering homeschooling. This will be on Saturday, August 27th, 11:00, at Smith Park in Platteville. This will be a potluck, so please bring a main dish and a side, or a main dish and a dessert. Bring your own drinks and lounge chairs. We will have some fun games planned. You do not need to attend classes to come to the picnic.
Below is information about membership, classes, and fees:
If you are planning to attend the co-op group classes you may pre-register at this link:
There will be a registration and orientation day on Wed., August 31st at 10AM. There will be an informative meeting at 10:45. Students will be addressed during the first part of the meeting. We ask that children stay with their parents at all times on this day. After the first part of the meeting, children may stay with their parents, or the high school students may watch the children on the playground outside during the meeting. You will be able to talk with the teachers, see what rooms the classes will be in, and pay fees on this day.
Classes will begin on Wednesday. September 7th. Teachers may arrive at 8:30 to set up. We will have an open assembly time in the fellowship hall at 8:45. Classes will begin at 9AM, 10AM, and 11AM. Nursery will be held throughout the morning as long as there is an adult worker in the nursery. Parents will be expected to take turns being hall monitors to make sure the youth are getting to their classes, bathrooms, water fountain, etc. Families will take turns helping with cleanup and child supervision during classes and events
The yearly membership runs August 1st to July 31st. If you would like to join CHEF as a member, the fee is $30 per family per year. CHEF encourages members to be involved with fundraising, and to volunteer to help with events.
The fees for the co-op group classes are as follows: $50 per family per semester for non-members. Members pay $10 per family per semester, along with additional fundraising.
Participants may pay on registration day, August 31st. Payments will be due by the second Wednesday of classes, September 14th.
CHEF does not want the fees to be a burden on families. If so, please speak with one of the board members or the treasurer for financial assistance.
There is an increase in the fees this year due to the rental fee of the church building. The rental fee has more than quadrupled from last year; from $15 to $75 per week. We would like fundraisers to help cover the cost.
Each member and the families in the co-op group classes will receive a copy of the policy handbook, and will need to sign that they have read it. .
We will have family events scheduled throughout the year. So, even if you don’t attend the classes, we encourage you to attend the events, and to invite other homeschoolers. We will let you know the details of the Fall Mother’s Banquet, field trips, and other opportunities soon.
We are looking forward to a great year! Thank you and may God bless your family and your homeschooling!
